Suicide can strike any family!

There are 10 common characteristics of people who commit suicide.

There are also many common myths about suicide.

There are 17 areas to examine when assessing the risk of suicide.

Look for suicide clues – Verbal. Behavioral, Situational, Syndromatic.  

Cries for help -- About 50% leave a suicide note.

Using the Triage Assessment Form in Addressing Lethality 

Rapidly and efficiently ask such questions as, 

  • Are you thinking about killing yourself?

  • How? 

  • When?  

  • Where?

Counseling Suicidal Clients

  • Hear the potential IMPACT on others.

  • Written contract not to harm self or others.

  • Life Box.  (MAW & AA).

  • School-based suicide prevention and intervention.

  • Developmental crisis counseling – age-specific examples.
