Boundaries and Relationships: Knowing, Protecting, and Enjoying the Self

Boundaries and Relationships: Knowing, Protecting, and Enjoying the Self
Whitfield, Charles. (1993).

This continues to be one of my favorite books to recommend to clients. The reason is that being aware of our boundaries and limits (how far can we go in comfort) is crucial to a healthy relationship, friendship, or marriage. This book clearly offers many examples, checklists, charts, plus causes of enmeshment or being overly dependent on others, and helps you feel happier about yourself. It describes 10 essential areas of human interaction to improve your relationships, including age regression, triangles, giving and receiving, core recovery issues, unfinished business and spirituality. I like Dr. Whitfield's insight into how to help us have healthier relationships by developing healthy boundaries.
