Whether you are vegetarian or not, I enjoy recommending this well researched book for anyone interested in just good nutrition. It provides important information on protein, carbohydrate and fat needs, good food sources of vitamins and minerals, weight management, exercise, chronic disease prevention, special needs throughout the lifecycle - from infancy, pregnancy, children, teens, adults, athletes, diabetes, to the senior population. In addition, several sample menus and numerous recipes are provided. I particularly appreciate the research-based nutrition recommendations (hundreds), the humor and rationale for eating a more plant-based diet, and the many practical tips on healthy eating. Virginia is a master's level registered dietitian and Mark holds a doctorate in nutrition-both good credentials in choosing a quality book.
