What is Hypnosis?

Have you ever driven home, your mind in other places, and wondered how you arrived? Or been daydreaming at work or on a summer’s day? Or have you ever used meditation to relax? Those are common everyday occurrences everyone experiences and are similar to the trance state of hypnosis.

A trance state or daydreaming is normal.

James Braid, the man who first coined the term hypnosis in 1841, defined hypnosis as “a state of heightened concentration or attention in which imagination, belief, and expectancy are more intense than waking.”

Today, most hypnosis researchers and practitioners agree that it is an effective tool in managing pain, stress, anxiety, weight, abuse, and more.

I use hypnotherapy as part of a well-balanced, holistic approach to overall health and well-being. Call today !

What To Expect

Medical and analytical hypnosis is useful for many concerns in the clinical setting., It is not like stage hypnosis, which is more for entertaining an audience. In Medical Hypnosis you are always in control. It won’t bypass your value system or make your do or say anything you don’t want.

As your Hypnotherapist I’ll simply act as your guide and teach you what to do. You’ll be in complete control and you can decide what to do. During hypnosis you’re as relaxed as when you are asleep, yet you’re not really asleep. You can hear more acutely, your creativity and imagination is enhanced, your memory is improved, and your concentration is more focused. Hypnosis is a relaxing experience and can leave you feeling refreshed and renewed!

I may help some clients discover core issues and release detrimental emotions (anger, fear, hurt), and resolve inner conflicts with self. With others I may help build self-esteem and new coping and assertiveness skills. All these, and more, are excellent methods I may employ to help you eliminate symptoms and achieve a happier life!
